Why Students Always Compare These Two
BMSCE Management Quota Fees is something students almost always compare with COMEDK fees when thinking about admission in BMS College of Engineering. It’s kind of a normal thing during admission time. First everyone hopes for a good rank… then if the rank is not great, the next step becomes checking other options.
I remember a guy from my coaching centre doing exactly this. He had a decent score but not enough for the branch he wanted. So for like two days he kept switching between COMEDK cutoff lists and management quota blogs trying to figure out the difference in fees.
And yeah… the difference is not small.
COMEDK Seats Are Much Cheaper
Students who get admission through COMEDK counselling usually pay a fixed tuition fee decided by the authority. For BMS College of Engineering, the annual tuition through COMEDK is roughly around ₹2.8 lakh to ₹3 lakh per year.
So if you multiply that for four years, the total tuition comes somewhere close to ₹11–₹12 lakh for the whole engineering course. Compared to many private colleges in India, that’s actually not that bad.
That’s why most students first aim for COMEDK. It’s still a merit based admission process and the fee is much more controlled.
Management Quota Fees Are Much Higher
Now when we talk about management quota admission, the story changes a bit. The fees are usually higher because these seats are filled directly by the college.
For many branches at BMSCE, the management quota fee can range roughly from ₹6 lakh per year to ₹15 lakh per year depending on the course. Computer Science is usually the most expensive one because everyone wants that branch.
If you think about the full four year cost, it can reach ₹24 lakh to even ₹60 lakh for some programs. And that’s mainly tuition. Other expenses like hostel or food are separate.
So yeah… compared to COMEDK, the BMSCE Management Quota Fees can be several times higher.
Honestly when families hear those numbers for the first time, they sometimes get a little shocked.
Why The Fees Are So Different
The reason mostly comes down to how admissions work. COMEDK seats are filled through a centralized counselling process based on entrance exam ranks. Because of that the fees are regulated.
Management quota seats work differently. Colleges directly offer those seats and the number of seats is limited. Also, demand for certain branches is very high.
Think about Computer Science for example. Almost every engineering student today wants CSE. Coding jobs, tech startups, AI tools… everything on the internet talks about tech careers.
So when many students want the same branch but the seats are limited, the price naturally becomes higher.
It’s honestly a bit like flight tickets. If you book early you get the cheaper fare. If you wait till the last moment… the price jumps a lot.
Extra Costs Students Sometimes Forget
Another thing students forget is that tuition fee is not the only expense during engineering.
If someone stays in hostel in Bangalore, that can cost around ₹1–1.5 lakh per year including food depending on the facilities. Then there are books, project materials, exam fees and small academic charges.
None of these look huge individually… but over four years they slowly increase the total cost.
I remember a senior once joking that engineering always has “surprise payments” every semester. Something new always pops up.
So Which Option Is Better?
Most students obviously try for COMEDK first because the fee difference is quite big. Getting a good rank can save a lot of money across four years.
Management quota is usually considered when someone really wants a particular college or branch but didn’t get the rank required.
So yes, in almost every situation BMSCE Management Quota Fees are definitely higher than COMEDK fees. Sometimes much higher actually.
But for students who are very sure about studying in BMS College of Engineering, management quota becomes another path to get that seat. And during admission season… many families end up thinking about that option at least once.
